Rev. Austin received his Doctor of Ministry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary.  For the past several years, he has served two New England churches as an intentional interim minister, having done post-doctoral study and research in transitional ministry dynamics within the local church.  First serving in York, ME and then in Wrentham, MA, Steve has focused much of his work on churches in conflict and post-trauma ministry dynamics.  While in Massachusetts, he also served on the Transitional Ministry Team for the Conference’s, as well as taking the post as Communications Director for its Board of Directors.

Having earned his Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees in Education, Pastor Austin is also a gifted musician, and prior to his entering ministry, taught vocal music at the high school level and was the conductor of a fairly well-acclaimed Civic Men’s Chorus in San Diego, CA, where he lived for 14 years prior to moving to New England in 2005.

He now serves as Senior Minister at St. Stephens-Bethlehem U.C.C. in Amherst, N.Y., and will be adopting his first child later this year.
