In 1997 a chaplain friend introduced me to the Interim Ministry Network (IMN). I took training under The Rev. Ken Ornell and The Rev. Roger Nicholson. This was the start of a wonderful journey that has allowed me to serve the Presbyterian Church USA, United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) congregations in several states. My average interim time is about eighteen months. I adhere to the IMN developmental tasks in the interims I serve.
Ordained as a Christian Church (DOC) Minister in 1988. I had ten years of installed pastoral experience before joining the IMN. Prior to that I was an active layman in the United Methodist Church and served on district and conference boards in various positions. I served as State Director of Georgia for Prison Fellowship International for four years before going to Lexington Theological Seminary.
I annually update by credentials with the IMN by attending advance training. I have led seminars on Prayer, Peace-making, Spiritual Disciplines and Christian Stewardship. I am writing a book to be entitled If I Had Never Gone There;: The Joy of Being Your Temporary Shepard. It will be a collection of writing about inspiring people I have met on this journey.
My current assignment is Broad Street Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio. |
