The Intentional Interim Minister

For those who are serious about the calling to be a professional interim pastor, the advanced program of the Interim Ministry Network (IMN) provides a proven path to success. The Network has decades of experience in educating pastors, rabbis, consultants, lay leaders and administrators in the subtle art of nourishing and nurturing congregational systems undergoing profound change.

The course requires extensive reading in the relevant literature, class work of both a academic and experiential nature, a demonstrated competence in computer research and networking, the completion of a practical project under the guidance of a field mentor and peer group.

Eligibility. A minister, seminarian, faculty, consultant, administrator or lay leader in good standing within his or her denomination is eligible to enroll. Applicants must provide approval of their appropriate governing body. Completion of the fundamental FTM course is a pre-requisite.

The final requirement for completion of the intentional interim training is the successful execution of a fieldwork project. Students who have completed the FTM and IIM courses are divided into teams of six with a faculty coordinator.

Over the course of about six months, each student proposes a demonstration project on an interim subject. He or she is guided through the conception, research, execution and publication of a project that illustrates an ability to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the other two courses.

The course is taught by Email and monthly teleconferences between the participants.
