WorkingPreacher.org

We’re out to inspire better preaching! We’re getting at that by offering timely, compelling, and trustworthy content for today’s working preachers. Further, we’re doing all this for free, as a ministry of the Center for Biblical Preaching at Luther Seminary. That’s right – all these resources are free, given away to inspire more faithful and creative proclamation of the Word!

DENOMINATIONAL Associations

Center for Congregational Health
An education and consultation ministry to congregations and their leaders based at the School of Pastoral Care at The North Carolina Baptist Hospitals, Inc.
Association of United Church of Christ Intentional Interim Ministers (AUCCIIM)
AUCCIIM are Ordained Ministers in the United Church of Christ who have received specialized training to assist congregations during the "in between times" of called pastors. Depending on level of experience and training they carry the designation of Intentional Interim Minister (IIM) or Professional Transition Specialist (PTS).

Association of Presbyterian Interim Ministry Specialists (APIMS)
APIMS exists to provide support for pastors, spouses and families as well as governing bodies within the Presbyterian Church (USA) who are involved with interim ministry and to provide information regarding placement, education, certification and research in the specialized field of interim ministry.

The Association of Disciples Intentional Interim Ministers(ADIIM)
ADIIM is the result of a gathering of Disciples of Christ Intentional Interim Ministers at the Interim Ministry Network, Inc.'s Annual Conference who, seeing the benefit of some strong regional groups and associations of Intentional Interim Ministers, decided it was time to form a denomination wide association for the benefit and betterment of all churches.

Although still very much in the planning stages we have three main objectives.

  1. To create a network of mutual support, information sharing and prayer among all Intentional Interim Ministers in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the USA and Canada.
  2. To educate the church in it's three manifestations, local, regional, and general, to the unique purpose, benefits, and uses of Intentional Interim Ministry.
  3. To create and maintain a set of acceptable standards for members while keeping well within the standards, procedures, and the Ministerial Code of Ethics of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the USA and Canada. As well as those accepted practices within the Interim Ministry Network, Inc.

The National Association of Lutheran Interim Pastors (NALIP), on behalf of its member Associations, the Interim Ministry Association of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (IMA -ELCA) and the Interim Ministry Conference Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (IMC-LCMS), works to:

  • Promote general awareness of Intentional Interim Ministry and its issues,
  • Advocate high performance standards in its practice,
  • Support the Church's servants called to interim ministry
  • Develop and offer programs for the training and continuing education of Lutheran Interim ministry practitioners, and
  • Exercise good stewardship of resources, and pursue sources of funding.

ABC - Interim Ministries- began its service to American Baptists in 1977 under the name, Ministers-at-Large Program. The title change came in 1997 when it expanded its vision and services. ABCIM recruits, screens and maintains a register of primarily American Baptist Pastors who have shown an interest and aptitude for interim leadership. The Area Ministers and Regional Staff, who work closest to each church, personalize our services. All the churches, that make use of the program, benefit from three outside sources: the Interim Pastor, the Regional Staff and the personnel at the national office. Such collaboration ensures support, ready responses for problem solving and the security of multiple caring ABC leaders who want the church to thrive.

Tranistional Ministries in the Episcopal Church (TMEC)

Transitional Ministries in the Episcopal Church, or TMEC, is the new name and the successor organization of the National Association of Episcopal Interim Ministry Specialists, or NAEIMS.

TMEC is an association that exists to encourage and support transitional ministry in the Episcopal Church. With its emphasis on training for this specialized ministry the members of TMEC are working throughout the church in various situations of change and transition, helping congregations discover new possibilities for ministry.

Often a priest serving in this capacity will have the title of "Interim Rector" or “Interim Vicar”, if they are serving a parish or mission congregation. A few of our members are lay persons who have received education and training to serve as "Search Consultants" to parishes in transition.

Many of TMEC’s members are also clergy members of the Interim Ministry Network and have received specialized training from the Network in congregational transitions. But TMEC supports not only clergy specialists involved in interim ministry; it is ready to assist lay leadership and various church-related groups involved in transitional processes as well.

TMEC is an affiliate association of the National Network of Episcopal Clergy Associations NNECA and is currently planning its presence at the 2009 General Convention of the Episcopal Church in Anaheim. The organization currently includes about thirty Episcopal clergy, but is open to lay members of the Church with specialized training who are involved in transitional situations in parishes and other church-related organizations.

For further information, please contact TMEC President, the Rev. Molly Dale Smith atmollydsmith@yahoo.comor TMEC Secretary, the Rev. Dr. Frank Hegedus, at frankhegedus@hotmail.com.

Lombard Mennonite Peace Center
LMPC began in 1983 as a congregationally based ministry with a local and regional focus to its outreach ministries. Over the years, the demand for LMPC's educational programs has grown significantly such that we now have a national focus to our outreach ministry. Such growth has confirmed our original vision for providing peacemaking resources for churches of all denominations. In 1998 LMPC reorganized as an independent non-profit ministry responsible to a ten-member Board of Directors.

In the broken world in which we live, there are many opportunities to share with others our mission of seeking "to proclaim Christ's good news, the gospel of peace and justice - and to be active in the sacred ministry of reconciliation." May God continue to bless LMPC as we seek to follow -and share - Christ's way of peace.

For further information, email LMPC your comments at Admin@LMPeaceCenter.org. or phone their office at 630-627-0507.
